What A Beautiful Scenery

Here are some photos from various hikes and camping trips over the last few years. I was camping at a place called Yampa and at the base of a trailhead someone had written in the guestbook, "What a beatiful scenery God has painted here before us."

Mount Evans- My first Colorado camping trip. We almost died of hypothermia, but if you go in the summer I'll bet it's pretty nice.

Mount Bierstadt- Our first fourteener. We made it to the top. Woo hoo.

Lake Emma- Our attempt at a second fourteener. We didn't make it to the top of Mount Lincoln, Bross or Democrat but we did find this brilliant little lake that we fell in love with.

Yampa- Camping in the Flattops Wilderness. Amazing. We lost the trail once and had to go back instead of crossing the saddle (and yeah, we maybe could have died), but it was totally worth it.

Brainard Lake- Hiking in a winter wonderland full of pine cones and fluffy clouds. There's a video clip too.

Green Mountain and Red Rocks- Hiking with Chris's new mohawk.

Ceran St. Vrain- The trail was treacherous and icy (there are no photos of that part because we were hanging on for dear life), but the view at the top was worth it.

El Dorado- Towhee Trail had beautiful wildflowers. Too bad my balding ex was there, talking about himself the whole time.

Ouzel Falls- We met an orchid hunter who showed us a very rare wild orchid. It was teeny tiny.

Golden Gate- Black Bear Trail was the best wildflower hike ever and there were a bazillion butterflies too.

Indian Peaks/ Devil's Thumb- We found an unexpected waterfall and we talked to it for a while.

Long Lake- I fell in love with two trees, one alive and one not so alive anymore.
